How is it possible that she is already five? It was just yesterday that we moved into our "new" house, set up the yellow and purple nursery, and I sat my big pregnant belly in front of the fan (watching Dawson's Creek reruns) trying to stay cool while anxiously awaiting her arrival!
Typical Maddie style, she decided to take us along for a ride but not before making us wait until the very end! She finally gave a kick hard enough to break my water and off we went to the hospital. I knew those strong kicks would come in handy some day because she has turned into quite the soccer player five years later!
Madelyn has always been a mover and a shaker...from the beginning. She kept me up all hours of the night before she was born so it was no surprise that when it was time to come out, she had flipped over and was facing the wrong way. I think of that quite often when I check on her at night. Luckly, at the last minute, she slipped out and made her deput. Five anxious grandparents where there to greet and hold her in all of her awesomeness.
After 9 months of colic, she finally decided to stop all the crying and enjoy life. And that is what she has done ever since then. She wakes every morning with a smile like the rising sun, waiting to see what is going to "happen" that day. She now knows the days of the week and even though she asks what is going to "happen" she is usually able to answer her own question before we can get the words out!
Five fingers on each hand. Five toes on each foot. Five whole years. Five years flew by. The best five years of my life. Hope the next five go by a bit slower.
